Looking forward to Electric Picnic 2010. See you there!

Electric Picnic has been awarded a Greener Festival International Award. An independent award, A Greener Festival recognizes environmentally-friendly music festivals. Electric Picnic was the only Irish Festival to receive the award in 2008.

We were heavily involved in recycling during the “Electric Picnic” festival 2007, 2008 and 2009 and had the pleasure of working with “Bin Your Empties” recycling awareness project.  L&H EcoTech Ltd supplied solar powered lighting to illuminate the recycling bins provided around the festival site. L&H EcoTech Ltd also provided the “Bin Your Empties” headquarters with a wind turbine to run lights and a sound system. In addition to supplying renewable energy systems L&H EcoTech Ltd for the first time in the festival world provided compactors on site to reduce the impact the festival had on the environment.

We collaborated with the “Bin Your Empties” crew to manufacture sculptures from cans, plastic and paper to educate and make people aware of their waste.  As part of the “Be Your Environment” campaign we manufactured plastic bottle and can crushers and integrated streetlight recycling bins. We also have under development a range of park and playground equipment designed to help educate children as they play.

We have met a lot of like minded people and are very excited about some of the ideas we have come up with. We also worked closely with “Panda Waste” and “recycle.net” and hope to work together on some ideas which we have developed.   We will post further details in the near future when tests are completed.
